The organisers are very keen to model the very best practice in safeguarding and are aware that an event for children needs to be far better than merely compliant. However you should be aware that in an era of almost ubiquitous camera phones it is impossible for us to control photography.
What we can do, though, is control our own use of images.
We have a policy of positive consent. We will not publish or otherwise use a photograph of any child in which that child can be recognised, without explicit consent from the parents or guardians. We will, primarily, use race numbers to enable us to exclude images of children for whom we do not have consent. To enable this, we will issue to each competitor upper-arm numbers which should display to the front; frame numbers visible from each side, and regular race numbers visible from behind. We will also use some common-sense.
Should you wish us to unpublish any image for which we have consent, we will of course do this as quickly as we can and urge our media partners to expedite this in turn.
If you have any particular needs or concerns, we encourage you to contact the Race Organiser or our Safeguarding Lead in advance. Concerns on the day should be communicated to the Enquiries Desk or Event Control, both located in the Tour Village
